This is Lawson Taylor of Wylie High School and Jacob Ward of Wylie East. Tonight they earned the prestigious honor of Eagle Scout. As a fellow Eagle Scout, I was honored to attend this wonderful event and so encouraged from what I learned about them and how kids like these are what makes America great. Parents, friends and even the mayor described how these kids are making a difference in our community.
Words like honor, respect, service, brotherhood, friendship, kindness, and responsibility were used to describe these young men. We hear so much during this presidential election season about the decline of our young people and how we are being left behind other nations. Skip that story here in Wylie, I’m not buying it. I don’t know how much influence we can have on a national stage, but rest easy knowing that kids like Lawson and Jacob are the kind of kids we are raising the Wylie Way!
